Varalakshmi Vrata

Varalakshmi Vrata is a sacred festival dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu, who grants boons (Vara). According to the Madhwa tradition, it is performed by married women for the well-being of their husbands and family. It is observed on the Friday immediately preceding the full moon day (Purnima) of the Shravana month.
