Ibharampura Krishnacharya (Apparavaru)

Ibharampura Krishnacharya, popularly and affectionately known as Appavaru, was an extraordinary Gruhastha scholar born to Ahobalacharya and Krishna Bai. As a youth wandering in a jungle, he experienced a profound divine awakening when Sri Ashwathmacharya miraculously appeared and inscribed sacred letters upon his tongue. Rising to immense spiritual heights, he was deeply revered even by Sri Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, the Maharaja of Mysuru, who recognized him as a true Aparoksha Gyani. In a famous miraculous incident at the Mysuru palace, Appavaru directed the unearthing of an ancient, hidden silver idol of Panchamukhi Praana Devaru—once worshipped by the Pandavas—which he then took as his Aaradhya Deva. Remaining a dedicated householder, he perfectly balanced his family duties with rigorous spiritual dedication and miraculous divine powers. He ultimately attained his divine destination at his holy base in Ibharampura, near Mantralaya.
