Sri Gopala Wodeyaru (VM)

Sri Gopala Wodeyaru (VM) was a highly revered Bidi Sanyasi of the Sosale Vyasaraja Matha parampara. In his poorvashrama as Subbarayaru, he famously abandoned a game of dice with King Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar upon hearing a divine call from Lord Srinivasa. Performing intense dhyana, he received mystical healing items in a dream from his Dasatva Guru, Diggavi Srinivasa Acharya, which he used to miraculously cure a terrible epidemic in Mysuru. He founded the renowned Subbarayara Dasara Gudi in Mysuru before taking formal sanyasa from Sri Vidyapoorna Tirtharu . Just like Sri Govinda Wodeyaru before him, he attained his holy Brindavana in Bilikere prior to the departure of his own Guru, leaving behind a magnificent legacy of divine healing and supreme detachment.
