Sri JayaTirtharu (Teekacharya)

Shri Jayateertha, widely revered as Teekacharya or Teekakritpaada, is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Indra with the Aavesha of Shesha. Blessed by Goddess Durga (Shri Mahalaxmi) with a sacred stylus to write commentaries on Shri Madhvacharya's works and an areca nut to permanently seal the text on palm leaves, he dedicated his life to propagating Dvaita philosophy after renouncing the world at a young age. His extraordinary intellectual prowess, sharp logic, majestic literary style, and deep mastery of diverse philosophical schools deeply awed the great scholar Shri Vidyaranya, who honored the saint-philosopher by placing him alongside his compositions on a decorated elephant in a majestic parade. Celebrated as a prodigy of learning, supreme dialectician, mystic, and saint of the highest order, Shri Jayateertha served as the pontiff of Shri Uttaradi Matha for 22 years and 7 months. Before his passing, he entrusted the leadership of the Matha to his prominent disciple, Shri Vidyadhiraja Teertha. His Brindavana rests at Malkhed along the banks of the Kagina River, situated beside his revered guru, Shri Akshobhya Teertha.
