Sri Lakshmeendra Tirtharu

Sri Lakshmindra Teertharu was born on the very auspicious day of Vaishaka Shuddha Dwadashi of Plavanga Naama Samvatsara (1907 CE), as the 3rd son of Sri Rajagopalacharya couple (Diwan of Sri Sode MaTha). He was initiated to Sanyasashrama by the then peeThadhipathi of Sode MaTha (Dwandwa maTha of Shirooru maTha), Sri Vishwendra teertharu on the very auspicious day of Ashwina Bahula Panchami, of Nala Samvatsara (1916 CE). He was the Vidya shishyaru of Sri Satyadhyana teertharu of Sri Uttaradi maTha & learnt Sriman Nyayasudha & other important Scriptures. Sri Satyadhyana teertharu had gifted him a golden peetha for worshiping the Vitthala’s murthy which was first worshiped by Srimadacharyaru. Also, on the occasion of 60th birth anniversary of Sri Kuttetooru Gopaladaasaru, 60 pavans of Gold coins were donated towards all the 8 maThas by Sri Gopaladaasaru. Sri Lakshmindra teertharu had made a golden chain using those coins & offered to Vitthala devaru. Srigalu have conducted Sudhamangala for 8 times, he has given many Pandits, many yatis which includes the then peethadhipathi of Sagarakatte maTha. He had written Geethopadesha, Siddhantha Saara, Rujutva Mandana, Dwaitadarshana, etc & had distributed to the sadbhaktas without charging, only with an intention of Sadbhaktas get the nectar of the Siddhanta. He had renovated the temple of Santyaru & Shirooru maTha in the year 1940. He had constructed Gopala maTha in 1938. Primary school at Shirooru in 1939 & a maTha at Mulki in the same year. He had ascended the Paryaya peetha thrice, first Paryaya was during 1930-1932, the second paryaya was during 1946-1948 & the third Paryaya was supposed to be during 1962-1964. Sudden demise odf Srigalu on Magha Bahula Saptami, of 1963 CE (15-2-1963) at Udupi. His Brindavana is in Udupi.
