📖 About Sri Lakshmipathi Tirtharu
Sri Lakshmipathi Teertharu was the 21st peethadhipathi of Sri maTha. Once during his Sanchara, he stayed at a place called "Papuja", which is about 16 kms from Krishna maTha & about 2.5 kms from Hiriyadka. Post night rituals, a young boy who had flute in his hand instructed Srigalu to excavate an idol which was buried in the anthill. Next day, Srigalu instructed to excavate the anthill, he found a very divine idol of Sri Venugopala Krishna. Srigalu constructed a temple & installed the idol. Devotees donated surrounding lands in the name of the samsthana for the usage of worshipping to Sri Lakshmipathi Teertharu. He stayed there for a longer time at Papuje. Srigalu had ruled the samsthana for 16 years & attained moksha on Bhadrapada Shuddha Dashami of Sharvari samvatsara (1720 CE) at Papuje. Ever since he entered the Vrindavana at this place, this MaTha which is in Papuje was renamed as Papuje maTha.
