Sri Yadavendra Tirtharu

Sri Yadavendra Tirtharu was a profoundly revered Bidi Sanyasi who received his sanyasa from Sri Sudheendra Tirtharu even before Sri Raghavendra Swamy (Rayaru), making him Rayaru's senior in the ascetic order. Possessing extraordinary vairagya (detachment) from a young age, he explicitly declined the powerful administrative headship (Mahasamsthaanadipathya) of the Matha when his Guru tested him, choosing instead the path of pure renunciation and pilgrimage. Later, when Rayaru formally assumed the Peetha, he humbly offered it to Sri Yadavendra Tirtharu out of respect for his seniority. Staying true to his vows of detachment, Sri Yadavendra Tirtharu gracefully declined again, performed a single day of pooja, blessed Rayaru, and resumed his independent spiritual journey. He authored deep commentaries like the Bhagavatha Vyakyana and ultimately entered his holy Brindavana at Mudhumale on the serene banks of the Krishna river.
